Getting Started

What is Senior Support Resources?+

Senior Support Resources is a care coordination platform for families managing senior loved ones. It brings together medication tracking, appointment management, family coordination, insurance navigation, emergency tools, and 70+ care guides in one place. It also works for seniors who want to stay organized and manage their own care.

How do I sign up?+

Visit the signup page and create an account with your email address. Getting started takes about a minute: you tell us who you are, your loved one's first name and zip code, and the one thing that brought you here. That is enough to land on a dashboard that highlights the tools and guides most relevant to your situation. You can add conditions, medications, and more detail whenever you are ready.

Is it really free?+

Yes. Everything is free during the beta, with no credit card required. If we introduce paid plans later, we will announce prices well before anyone is charged, and nobody is charged without choosing a paid plan.

Do I need to be tech-savvy to use it?+

Not at all. We built this for people who are tired and busy, not tech enthusiasts. If you can check email and use a web browser, you can use Senior Support Resources. The interface is designed to be straightforward, and the onboarding walkthrough shows you exactly where things are.

Features

What is a Care Circle?+

A Care Circle is a group of people involved in caring for one person. You create a circle for your loved one and invite family members, friends, or professionals. Everyone in the circle sees the same medications, appointments, tasks, and updates. You can have multiple circles if you are caring for more than one person.

How does medication tracking work?+

Add medications by searching drug data from the National Library of Medicine and OpenFDA, or by scanning a barcode (not yet available in Safari or on iPhone). The system checks your full medication list against a curated drug interaction reference and tracks dosage schedules. Interaction warnings are a starting point for a conversation with the doctor or pharmacist, not medical advice.

What are the care guides?+

70+ practical guides covering daily care (bathing, nutrition, mobility), medical conditions, medications, legal planning, home safety, and caregiver self-care. Each guide gives you actionable steps, checklists, and links to relevant resources.

Can I export my data?+

Yes. You can export your complete care data as JSON, or download specific datasets as CSV files: medications, visit logs, health metrics, and incident reports. You can also download PDF and Word reports (Emergency Card, Care Summary, Weekly Report, Medication List), export appointments to any calendar app via iCal, and print emergency information and visit prep sheets.

For Seniors

Can my parent use it themselves?+

Absolutely. Self-managing mode is designed specifically for seniors who want to stay on top of their own care. It features larger text, simplified navigation, voice shortcuts for logging medications and asking for help, and a one-tap email check-in to let family know they are OK. Seniors can use it to track medications, store important documents, and keep family informed on their terms.

What are the voice shortcuts?+

Voice shortcuts let self-managing seniors log a medication or ask family for help by speaking a few set phrases, which helps when reading small text or tapping buttons is difficult. Available in the self-managing user mode.

How do check-ins work?+

A self-managing senior can let family know they are OK with a one-tap email check-in. Text message check-ins are not switched on yet.

Privacy and Security

How is my data protected?+

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is controlled by Row Level Security policies at the database layer, meaning only members of your Care Circle can see your information. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it for anything other than providing the service.

Is this HIPAA-compliant?+

No. Senior Support Resources is a personal caregiving tool for families, not a HIPAA-covered service, and it is not HIPAA compliant. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our database provider, and access is limited to members of your Care Circle. If you need formal HIPAA compliance, consult a healthcare compliance professional.

Can I delete my account and data?+

Yes. You can export all your data at any time. Request account deletion from Settings, Data & Privacy (or email support@seniorsupportresources.com). We confirm by email and delete your account and care data within 30 days.

Insurance and Benefits

Can it help with Medicare?+

It can help you get organized. The platform includes a Medicare plan comparison tool and guidance on Medicare Advantage, supplemental plans, and Part D drug coverage. For decisions about a specific plan, check with Medicare or a SHIP counselor.

What benefits can I screen for?+

The benefits screener looks at 16 programs including Medicaid, SNAP (food assistance), LIHEAP (energy assistance), Medicare Savings Programs, Extra Help (Part D), VA benefits, housing help, Meals on Wheels, and state pharmaceutical assistance programs. It applies simple rules based on age, state, income, and veteran status to flag programs your loved one may qualify for. The program itself makes the final eligibility decision.
